Paynesville Christian Church is an independent, non-denominational, New Testament
Christian Church, born out of the Restoration Movement. We don't seek to
reform the Church, but return to (restore) the original Church that
Jesus Christ established. We have no creed but Christ, and
Him crucified; no book of authority but the Holy Scriptures. Our plea is for Christian
unity. Our mission is to seek and to save that which was lost.
As with all other aspects of our Christian life, the way we preach salvation, and the
way we conduct our worship services are in accordance with the pattern
established in the New Testament.
THE WAY OF SALVATION
On the day of Pentecost (the birthday of the Church), those who had heard Peter
speak asked the question, 'Brothers, what shall we do (to receive salvation)?' Peter told them,
'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And
you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.' (Acts 2:38 NIV)
God's free gift of salvation is by His grace through our faith in His son, Jesus
Christ. We find God's plan of salvation outlined in the pages of the New Testament. In
order to receive God's saving grace, we must:
- Hear the Word of Jesus proclaimed.
Matthew 7:24;
I Corinthians 15:1-4
- Believe the Word.
Romans 10:17;
Hebrews 11:1
- Repent of your sins.
Luke 13:3;
Acts 17:30
- Confess Jesus as your Savior and Lord.
Matthew 10:32;
Romans 10:8-13
- Be immersed in baptism.
Acts 2:38,
22:16;
Romans 6:3-6;
Galatians 3:27;
I Peter 3:21
- Be emulators of Christ.
James 1:22-24,
2:20
Soon after the Church began, an account of what the early believers were doing was
recorded in the book of Acts. 'They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to
the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.' (Acts 2:42 NIV) Following
this example, we at Paynesville attempt to include these aspects of worship in each
service. We also sing hymns as commanded by Paul (Colossians 3:16 NIV). We
extend the Lord's invitation to anyone who might want to accept Jesus as
their personal Lord and Savior, or to those who might want to place their membership with
our particular congregation. This invitation is from Jesus Christ and is never closed. |
